How to get from the airport to the center of Amsterdam

By train

Fast and convenient, after all the train is located inside the airport itself, in the basement of the hall. Just follow the signs. In the hall, you will find several yellow machines, like the ones in the picture, to buy the train ticket. They accept credit cards. The price is from 6 euros, from the airport to the central station.

To the central station (Centraal Station), it’s only 15 minutes. But first, check the best station to get to your hotel. If it is further away, it may be better to stop at another station or use another means of transportation to leave the airport.

By bus

This is mainly recommended for people staying near the Museumplein or Leidseplein. You will use the Connexxion 397 bus. Its stop is just outside the airport, where you can check the schedule on the monitor at the stop. They are red, so you can’t miss them.

This line runs from 5am until midnight. If you arrive after this time, you can take its night line, the N97 – Nightliner bus, with departures every hour until 4am.

The price of the ticket is 6 euros. If you buy it in addition to the round trip, it is 10 euros. You can buy the ticket directly from the driver, but only with a credit card.

The bus is safe, comfortable and designed for those with luggage. Without a doubt an excellent option for those who are in the above mentioned areas.

Cab

Amsterdam cabs are among the most expensive in Europe! A trip to the city center costs 50 euros.

It is important to note that most cab drivers only accept cash, so check with the driver (before the ride starts) if you want to pay by card.

And be very careful with the cab drivers who offer themselves to you inside the airport. Always go to the official point outside the entrance hall. Follow the internal signs and, if in doubt, ask the security guards. Amsterdam cabs have blue signs with the driver’s license on them.
